Volkswagen ID.3 tyres

Volkswagen ID.3

Vauxford · CC BY-SA 4.0

The Volkswagen ID.3 leaves the factory on 215/45 R20 and 215/50 R19 and 215/55 R18 and 235/40 R20 depending on wheel size, and the 215/55 R18 95T below is the one most owners are replacing. A standard load 95 rating is modest for an electric car and says something about where this one's kerb weight sits. The Alfa Romeo Junior Elettrica takes the same size.

What you are looking for, drawn. The real one is on on the driver's door jamb, on the b-pillar, and its figures are the ones that count.

Your own placard is the authority. You will find it on the on the driver's door jamb, on the B-pillar. Where it disagrees with this page, it wins. Match or exceed the size, load index, speed rating and construction class it gives, and use its pressure figure rather than anything printed on the tyre.

What changes on this car

Every ID.3 wheel option uses one size on all four corners, so a set of four is a single part number. The 18 inch 215/55 R18 95T and the 19 inch 215/50 R19 93T are standard load; the 20 inch 215/45 R20 95 is XL, which is easy to miss because its load index matches the 18 inch.

The 2026 update, sold as the ID.3 Neo, lists its 19 inch as 215/50 R19 97H XL. That is four load index points, 80 kg per corner, above the 93T on earlier 19 inch cars, so a 93-rated tyre should not go on a Neo.

The GTX Performance can also run a wider 235/40 R20 96Y XL, the only Y-rated option on the car and the same size Cupra fits to the 20 inch Born, which shares the ID.3's MEB underpinnings.

No tyres listed against this fitment yet. Product specifications are published from each manufacturer's own data and that work is not finished for 215/55 R18. Match or exceed every figure in the table above and you cannot go far wrong.

Every figure here comes from one tyre maker's own fitment data, checked across different years or trims. That is a second look rather than a second opinion, so check the label on your door jamb before you buy.

Common questions

What size tyres does the Volkswagen ID.3 take?
It runs 215/45 R20 and 215/50 R19 and 215/55 R18 and 235/40 R20. The exact fitment for your car is on On the driver's door jamb, on the B-pillar.
Can I fit a cheaper tyre to a Volkswagen ID.3?
Only at 215/55 R18 95T or better. That is the figure to hold: a tyre below the load index, the speed rating or the construction class is not a cheaper one, it is the wrong one.
