Kia Niro EV tires

The Kia Niro EV runs one fitment, 215/55 R17 94W. A standard load 94 rating is modest for an electric car and says something about where this one's curb weight sits. The Hyundai Kona Electric takes the same size.
Every fitment
| Generation | Trim | Wheel | Tire size | Load index | Speed | Construction | Marking | Pressure |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Current | e-Niro, first generation (2018-2022, UK) | 17in | 215/55 R17 | 94 | W | SL | none | see plate |
| Current | Niro EV, first generation (2019-2022, US) | 17in | 215/55 R17 | 94 | V | SL | none | see plate |
| Current | Niro EV, second generation (2022-) | 17in | 215/55 R17 | 94 | V | SL | none | see plate |
Your own placard is the authority. You will find it on the on the driver's door jamb, on the B-pillar. Where it disagrees with this page, it wins. Match or exceed the size, load index, speed rating and construction class it gives, and use its pressure figure rather than anything printed on the tire.
What changes on this car
Across both generations and both markets the Niro EV has used a single size, 215/55 R17 at load index 94 (670 kg). What changes is the speed letter: Kia's own label for the UK e-Niro shows a W-rated Michelin Primacy 3, while US first-generation cars and all second-generation cars list V.
Sold in Britain as the e-Niro until 2022 and as the Niro EV since, it is a standard-load fitment throughout. In the second-generation range the 17 inch size belongs only to the electric version; the hybrids use 16 and 18 inch wheels.
A second-generation car on 94V can take a W-rated replacement, but a first-generation UK e-Niro should not drop to a V.
No tires listed against this fitment yet. Product specifications are published from each manufacturer's own data and that work is not finished for 215/55 R17. Match or exceed every figure in the table above and you cannot go far wrong.

Common questions
- What size tires does the Kia Niro EV take?
- It runs 215/55 R17. The exact fitment for your car is on On the driver's door jamb, on the B-pillar.
- Can I fit a cheaper tire to a Kia Niro EV?
- Only at 215/55 R17 94W or better. That is the figure to hold: a tire below the load index, the speed rating or the construction class is not a cheaper one, it is the wrong one.
