Volvo EX90 tyres

The Volvo EX90 leaves the factory on 255/50 R20 and 265/45 R21 depending on wheel size, and the 255/50 R20 109V XL below is the one most owners are replacing. XL is not optional here; it is what the car was type approved on. It is staggered: a 255 section at the front and a 285 at the back, so the two can never be swapped across axles and the rear goes first. The Audi Q6 e-tron takes the same size.
Every fitment
| Generation | Trim | Wheel | Tyre size | Load index | Speed | Construction | Marking | Pressure |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Current | 20in | 20in | 255/50 R20 front, 285/45 R20 rear | 109 | V | XL | none | see plate |
| Current | 21in | 21in | 265/45 R21 front, 295/40 R21 rear | 108 | V | XL | none | see plate |
Your own placard is the authority. You will find it on the on the driver's door jamb, on the B-pillar. Where it disagrees with this page, it wins. Match or exceed the size, load index, speed rating and construction class it gives, and use its pressure figure rather than anything printed on the tyre.
What changes on this car
A seven-seat SUV on a battery of more than 100 kWh, the EX90 runs XL tyres with very high load indices: 112 on the 20 inch rear is 1,120 kg per corner.
It is staggered on both listed wheel sizes, and the rear is 30 mm wider than the front on each: 255 and 285 on 20 inch, 265 and 295 on 21 inch.
The 22 inch option is not listed here. Michelin's US data gives it an HL rear, 295/35 R22 111H, while the UK data gives a 108-rated XL rear in the same size, and we have not been able to settle which is right.
No tyres listed against this fitment yet. Product specifications are published from each manufacturer's own data and that work is not finished for 255/50 R20. Match or exceed every figure in the table above and you cannot go far wrong.

Every figure here comes from one tyre maker's own fitment data, checked across different years or trims. That is a second look rather than a second opinion, so check the label on your door jamb before you buy.

Common questions
- What size tyres does the Volvo EX90 take?
- It runs 255/50 R20 and 265/45 R21. The exact fitment for your car is on On the driver's door jamb, on the B-pillar.
- Can I fit a cheaper tyre to a Volvo EX90?
- Only at 255/50 R20 109V XL or better. That is the figure to hold: a tyre below the load index, the speed rating or the construction class is not a cheaper one, it is the wrong one.
