Tesla Model X tyres

The Tesla Model X leaves the factory on 265/35 R22 and 265/45 R20 depending on wheel size, and the 265/45 R20 108V XL below is the one most owners are replacing. XL is not optional here; it is what the car was type approved on. It is staggered: a 265 section at the front and a 275 at the back, so the two can never be swapped across axles and the rear goes first. The Genesis Electrified GV70 takes the same size.
Every fitment
| Generation | Trim | Wheel | Tyre size | Load index | Speed | Construction | Marking | Pressure |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Current | 20in wheels | 20in | 265/45 R20 front, 275/45 R20 rear | 108 | V | XL | none | see plate |
| Current | 22in wheels | 22in | 265/35 R22 front, 285/35 R22 rear | 102 | W | XL | none | see plate |
Your own placard is the authority. You will find it on the on the driver's door jamb, on the B-pillar. Where it disagrees with this page, it wins. Match or exceed the size, load index, speed rating and construction class it gives, and use its pressure figure rather than anything printed on the tyre.
What changes on this car
Every Model X fitment checked is staggered, on the 20 inch wheel and the 22 alike: a narrower tyre on the front and a wider one on the back, so a full set is two pairs in two different sizes.
The rear on the 20 inch wheel is load index 110, 1,060kg per tyre, which is large-SUV territory. The falcon-wing doors and the third row sit on top of the battery, and the tyre carries all of it.
No tyres listed against this fitment yet. Product specifications are published from each manufacturer's own data and that work is not finished for 265/45 R20. Match or exceed every figure in the table above and you cannot go far wrong.

Every figure here comes from one tyre maker's own fitment data, checked across different years or trims. That is a second look rather than a second opinion, so check the label on your door jamb before you buy.

Common questions
- What size tyres does the Tesla Model X take?
- It runs 265/35 R22 and 265/45 R20. The exact fitment for your car is on On the driver's door jamb, on the B-pillar.
- Can I fit a cheaper tyre to a Tesla Model X?
- Only at 265/45 R20 108V XL or better. That is the figure to hold: a tyre below the load index, the speed rating or the construction class is not a cheaper one, it is the wrong one.
