Your own placard is the authority. You will find it on the printed on the tyre sidewall, next to the pressure range. Where it disagrees with this page, it wins. Match or exceed the size, load index, speed rating and construction class it gives, and use its pressure figure rather than anything printed on the tyre.
What changes on this bike
The current Motus, hub-gear and derailleur alike, uses an XLC Traverse CTC in 50-622 on Ryde ZAC 421 rims, a touring tyre from the parts brand of Raleigh's parent group.
Older Motus Tour and Grand Tour bikes were sold with other tyre makes and widths, so a used Motus may not match this listing.
This is a Bosch Performance Line bike limited to 25 km/h; the XLC is not marketed as ECE-R75 certified, and none is needed here.
No tyres listed against this fitment yet. Product specifications are published from each manufacturer's own data and that work is not finished for 50-622. Match or exceed every figure in the table above and you cannot go far wrong.
Where these figures come from
- Raleigh UK spec page, Motus hub gear (Rim: Ryde ZAC 421 36H; Tyre: XLC Traverse CTC 50-622): https://raleigh.co.uk/en-gb/products/motus-hub-rmft1
- Raleigh UK spec page, Motus derailleur gear (Tyre: XLC Traverse CTC 50-622): https://raleigh.co.uk/en-gb/products/motus-rmet1
Including the manufacturer's own published figure. Neither source is standing next to your vehicle, which is why the placard still wins.
Common questions
- What size tyres does the Raleigh Motus take?
- It runs 50-622. The exact fitment for your bike is on Printed on the tyre sidewall, next to the pressure range.
- Can I fit a cheaper tyre to a Raleigh Motus?
- Only at 50-622 or better. That is the figure to hold: a tyre below the load index, the speed rating or the construction class is not a cheaper one, it is the wrong one.
